At both Early Learning Center sites, we use the Creative Curriculum® for Preschool, which is a research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
The Creative Curriculum is based on 38 objectives for development and learning. These objectives are fully aligned with the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework and state early learning standards, and are integrated into every one of the comprehensive collection of resources that makes up the curriculum.
The planned activities for the children, the organization of the environment, the selection of toys and materials, and planning the daily schedule and interaction with the children, are all designed to accomplish the goals and objectives of the curriculum. Our whole child approach also helps develop both academic skills and confidence as the children progress through the years.
The Omaha Early Learning Centers use The Creative Curriculum® for preschool as guiding principles and practices to show our teachers how to integrate learning in literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, and technology throughout the day. It also gives our teachers a wide range of teaching strategies — from child-initiated to teacher-directed approaches — to best respond to children’s learning styles, strengths, and interests.
Teachers will carefully observe each child in an effort to record their development and identify areas in need of guidance.
